La decisión de la Asamblea del Poder Popular de desatender una petición de amnistía política la tomó el Partido Comunista de Cuba y debe servir para que la oposición dentro del país y los cubanos libres en el exterior redoblen sus esfuerzos, hasta que el régimen tenga que liberarlos y que, además, puedan decidir si permanecen en la Isla y dejarles decidir si permanecen en la Isla o se van al exilio. Debemos dirigirnos a la prensa, a las asociaciones cívicas, a nuestros representantes, a los sindicatos, etcétera.
La decisión de la Asamblea del Poder Popular debe tener una respuesta inteligente para avanzar en la causa que todos queremos, que es la libertad de los presos políticos y, en definitiva, de toda la ciudadanía cubana.
En la Isla hay quienes pueden contactar a embajadas, dirigiéndose a Gobiernos democráticos. Otros, instar a la Iglesia a que ofrezca misas por la libertad de los cautivos y que se dirija a cardenales y obispos alrededor del mundo, pidiéndoles que agreguen sus voces a la campaña. Y no solo la Iglesia católica. También las iglesias cristianas evangélicas, las metodistas, presbiterianas, las bautistas, luteranas, episcopales, las comunidades de fe africana y hasta las logias masónicas podrían movilizar a los creyentes en Cuba y a sus correligionarios alrededor del mundo.
On April 5, during the 55th session of the United Nations Human Rights Council, Gina Romero was appointed as the new UN Special Rapporteur on Freedom of Peaceful Assembly and of Association (FoAA). Originally from Colombia, Romero is the co-founder and former Executive Director of the Latin American and Caribbean Network for Democracy (REDLAD).
She has an accomplished career as a democracy activist and is an expert on civic participation, political affairs, youth political engagement, and gender issues. Participatory Democracy Cultural Initiative congratulates Romero, former steering committee member of the World Movement for Democracy, for being appointed as the new UNSR on FoAA, an important mandate to defend and protect civic space and fundamental freedoms.

Dharamsala, Jan. 27 (DPnet).– In early October 2023, a message was widely circulated on Chinese social media, suggesting that the name of Tibet in English would be changed to "Xizang." Earlier this year, China officially replaced the use of the term “Tibet” with “Xizang” as the romanized Chinese name on official diplomatic documents, as announced in a recent speech by the Foreign Minister Wang Yi. China wants to erase everything that makes Tibet Tibetan — even down to the name.
The Chinese government is gradually dropping the name "Tibet" in official English-language references in favor of the region's Mandarin Chinese name —"Xizang"— with experts saying the move is in line with Beijing policies aimed at erasing Tibetan culture.
