  • Prime Minister Francois Bayrou was ousted with 364 votes against and 194 in his favour.

Paris, Sep.8 (DPnet).– France's parliament brought down the government on Monday over its plans to tame the ballooning national debt, deepening a political crisis that is weakening the euro zone's second-largest economy.

“In line with Article 50 of the constitution, the prime minister must submit the resignation of his government,” said speaker Yael Braun-Pivet after the vote.

Bayrou told the National Assembly: “The biggest risk was not to take one, to let things continue without anything changing… and have business as usual.”

  • The Civic group warns special tribunal could delay trials, infringe judicial independence.

Former PM Han Duck-sooSeoul, Sept. 5.– People’s Solidarity for Participatory Democracy has called for a cautious approach to the Democratic Party’s push to establish a special tribunal for insurrection cases.

They argue that, given the current situation where the first trial of the insurrection case has significantly progressed, pushing for a special tribunal could instead lead to trial delays.

In a commentary released on the 4th, People’s Solidarity for Participatory Democracy pointed out: “At this point, if legislation is enacted to change the trial court, trial delays are inevitable due to legislative procedures and trial renewal processes.”

Dhaka, Aug.31.– Academics, researchers, and activists on Saturday said that institutional and legal reforms in the post-uprising era would not sustain unless the political parties institutionalise participatory democracy with youth engagement.

They made the remarks while addressing the Bengal Delta Conference 2025 organised by a Dhaka-based think tank, Dacca Institute of Research and Analytics, at a hotel in the capital.

«Lack of democracy, justice causing mass-upsurges across globe».– PM Sheikh Hasina

No comments on “«Lack of democracy, justice causing mass-upsurges across globe».– PM Sheikh Hasina”

Dhaka, Aug.22.– Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today attributed the mass upsurges in different parts of the world to a lack of participatory democracy and justice, saying that without true democracy, social stability and peace cannot be durable, reports BSS.

"Absence of democracy and social justice can be linked to sustenance of poverty, inequality, deprivation, and marginalization, which in turn instigates extremism and terrorism," she said.

Zelenskyy Seeks Clarity on Security Guarantees for Ukraine

Written by The Express Tribune (Pk) on 21 August 2025. Posted in Headlines.

No comments on “Zelenskyy Seeks Clarity on Security Guarantees for Ukraine”
Speaking to reporters on Aug. 20, after returning from Washington, and referring to the security guarantees that a large number of countries, including China, gave to Ukraine in exchange for giving up its nuclear arsenal and disarming itself of all heavy military equipment, Zelensky said: "...we do not need guarantors who do not help Ukraine and did not help Ukraine at a time when we really needed it after February 24, [2022].”

Kyiv, Aug.21.– Ukraine and its European allies have been buoyed by Donald Trump's promise of security guarantees for Kyiv to help end the war in Ukraine, but face many unanswered questions, including how willing Russia will be to play ball.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy hailed Monday's extraordinary summit at the White House with the US president as a "major step forward" towards ending Europe's deadliest conflict in 80 years and towards setting up a trilateral meeting with Russia's Vladimir Putin and Trump in the coming weeks.
