Speakers of small European states meet in Nicosia to discuss democratic participation, AI challenges, and strategies

Nicosia, Sept. 16.– Parliamentary leaders from small European states concluded the 18th Conference of Speakers of Parliaments of Small States of Europe in Nicosia this week, focusing on the importance of regional cooperation.

Hosted by the Cypriot House of Representatives, the event brought together speakers from Andorra, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Montenegro, Monaco, and Malta, along with representatives from San Marino. 

House President Annita Demetriou opened the conference, which took place from September 15 to 16, and featured discussions on participatory democracy, the impact of artificial intelligence on governance, and strategies for small states to navigate turbulent international conditions.
