Democracy Needs Dissenters, Critical Thinkers; but Academic freedom index Reveals Eroding Academic Freedom
In recent years, we have seen many such examples of the government intimidating the scholars working in the knowledge sector into silence. While academic freedom is being challenged, defamation lawsuits are becoming tools of harassment.
July 8.– In 2022, India’s academic freedom index was in the bottom 30% among 179 countries, according to an analysis by the V-Dem Institute. It flagged 22 countries, including India, China, the US, and Mexico, where institutes recorded a slide in academic freedom over the past decade.

Rev. Torli H. Krua, Founder of Universal Human Rights International, in an open letter to the 54th Liberian Legislature, called for a public hearing on his research uncovering “200 years of lies and deception responsible for systemic corruption, massacres, poverty, etc in Liberia.” He also called for the adoption of a new Constitution that promotes participatory democracy to replace the current one he described as a corrupt document designed to enslave and oppress ordinary Liberians while empowering and enriching politicians.

El 11 de junio tildó de "mentirosas" las encuestas publicadas, afirmó que la prensa "odia" a la Vicepresidenta Márquez por ser "negra" y acusó a la revista Semana de "ordenar al CTI de allanar otras oficinas de la Presidencia", provocando reacciones violentas de sus partidarios con agresiones a periodistas de Caracol Radio, RCN y Blu en distintas ciudades de Colombia. El tal "allanamiento" se refiere a la inspección judicial por sospechas de corrupción realizada en el piso 13, donde funciona una oficina de inteligencia de la Presidencia.
