Urgent Christian humanitarian assistance is being provided in the Holy Land and Sudan

Written by Gerardo E. Martínez-Solanas on 18 April 2025. Posted in Perspectivas / Perspectives.

Since October 2023, the well-known Catholic Relief Services (CRS) has been providing humanitarian assistance to the Holy Land and Sudan.

The Holy Land

CRS has supported 1.1 million people across Jerusalem, the West Bank, and Gaza with food, shelter, hygiene supplies, cash assistance, and counseling. Their current efforts focus on lifesaving assistance to meet people's physical and emotional needs, hoping to transition to sustainable solutions for recovery once the situation has stabilized in the region. Gaza humanitarian aid

During the past year, CRS has adjusted its operations in Gaza in response to ongoing challenges, including evacuation orders, border closures, and a significant impact on staff and their families. This response to the crisis is regional in scope, with coordination, partnerships, and activities across Jerusalem, the West Bank, Gaza, Egypt, and Jordan. Despite extreme operational challenges, their emphasis on efficient systems, locally led approaches, high-quality programming, and accountability ensures that people in need get the aid up to the needed scale.

Since late 2024, their efforts expanded to the crises in Lebanon and Syria, where they work in partnership with other agencies to support families displaced and affected by conflict, as well as those returning home.

Chinese hydropower Projects are Damning Tibet's Culture, Community, and Environment

Written by International Campaign for Tibet on 16 April 2025. Posted in Perspectivas / Perspectives.

Chinese oppressionThe People’s Republic of China’s (PRC) hydropower and dam projects are increasingly leading to massive human rights violations and environmental damage in Tibet. Since Asia’s largest rivers originate in the Tibetan plateau, the construction of hydroelectric dams in Tibet also threatens the water supply, livelihoods, and health of up to 1.8 billion people across China, South, and Southeast Asia.
(...)

Recognition of Tibet as a source of natural resources, such as minerals and water, is not new. The People’s Republic of China’s more than 70-year occupation of Tibet continues to inflict gross human rights violations on the Tibetan people, often directly linked to the exploitation of Tibet’s natural environment. Thus, the most essential investment the PRC must take to right the wrongs of its decades of resource plunder is to enter meaningful dialogue with Tibetan leaders to reach a political solution that also includes the Tibetan people’s right to decide the use of their natural wealth and resources freely. The most politically marginalized communities should not pay the highest price for China’s ambitious hydropower plan.

Perhaps the most prominent example of the People’s Republic of China’s exploitation is its accelerating construction of hydropower dams along Tibet’s major rivers. The integrity of these rivers is fundamental to Tibet’s rich environment and its unique civilization. Also, up to 1.8 billion people throughout China, South, and Southeast Asia depend on their healthy flow for subsistence, health, and economic development. China’s rampant, command-and-control hydropower plans put all this at peril.

Persecution of the Century in China

Written by The Epoch Times on 14 March 2025. Posted in Perspectivas / Perspectives.

With the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) growing its power in America, understanding its goals couldn’t be more important than it is today.

Few events in recent Chinese history have had as profound an impact on a country as what happened on July 20, 1999. It was the day on which the CCP launched a campaign meant to crush a domestic spiritual revival and force the free world to look the other way.

July 20, 2024, marked 25 years since the regime launched its unprecedented persecution of Falun Gong, severely impacting the lives of the Chinese people and the course of their nation’s history. And this is only what the surface reveals. Behind it all is an evil never before seen in human history—state-sponsored forced organ harvesting.

The Council of Europe Should Hold Azerbaijan Accountable for human rights violations

Written by EUobserver on 13 February 2025. Posted in Perspectivas / Perspectives.

Azerbaijan, Armenia & GeorgiaStrasbourg, Feb.13.– Over the past 25 years, Azerbaijan has failed to uphold its democratic commitments. Instead, President Ilham Aliyev has tightened his grip on power, suppressing political opposition, civil society, and independent media.

In January 2024, the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) refused to ratify Azerbaijan’s credentials due to its worsening human rights record. Since then, repression has escalated, with at least 331 political prisoners, including journalists and human rights defenders such as Anar Mammadli.

Democracy advocates urge PACE and the global community to take firm action, including sanctions and diplomatic pressure, to hold Azerbaijan accountable. “Without decisive measures, Azerbaijan risks further isolation, following the path of Russia and Belarus.” – Andrea Prasow, Executive Director of Freedom Now.

El Papa Francisco anuncia disolución del Sodalicio de Vida Cristiana fundada en 1971 en Perú, liderada por Luis Fernando Figari

Written by Democracia Participativa on 09 February 2025. Posted in Perspectivas / Perspectives.
