Why Negotiating With North Korea Was Never Going to Be Easy

Beijing, May 16.– North Korea has nixed talks with South Korea set for Wednesday and threatened to pull out of next month’s summit with the U.S., underscoring the difficulty of negotiating with an ossified Stalinist regime that has clung onto power for seven decades precisely by switching between hostility and engagement with assorted world powers.

North Korea’s state KCNA news agency announced the initial cancellation Tuesday, citing the joint air force drills between Seoul and Washington that it deemed a “provocation” and practice for invasion. North Korea has long railed against U.S.-South Korean military drills, but the move surprised many Korea-watchers as Kim had earlier said negotiations would continue regardless of the exercises.

Appealing for Holy Land, Pope Francis Warns ‘Violence Never Leads to Peace’

Appeals to the international community for dialogue and justice

 Vatican, May 16.– “Violence never leads to peace.”

Pope Francis gave this warning during his General Audience on May 16, 2018, calling on the international community to resolve the situation in the Holy Land, two days after the inauguration of the US embassy in Jerusalem, which was accompanied by much bloodshed in Gaza.

Expressing his concern, the Pope said: “I am very concerned by the aggravation of tensions in the Holy Land and in the Middle East, and by the spiral of violence that is increasingly moving away from the path of peace, dialogue and negotiations. “

SINGAPORE: Penang Forum calls for the revival of local council elections throughout the nation in order to promote greater participatory democracy

The group has consistently opposed the planned Penang South Reclamation (PSR) project and said today there is now an urgent need for the state to review the Penang Transport Master Plan (PTMP).

 GEORGE TOWN, May 14.— Penang Forum, an umbrella body of civil society groups here, has called for the Penang state government under new Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow to re-evaluate the need for land reclamation in the state.

US president called historic agreement 'one of the worst deals I've ever seen'

Washington DC, May 8 (DP.net).– In a relatively short speech this Tuesday afternoon, President Trump announced US withdrawal from Iran's deal.

Iran leader warned it could go ahead with nuclear development. President Hassan Rouhani made the statement immediately after President Donald Trump said he was pulling the U.S. out of the nuclear deal.

Rouhani spoke live on Iranian state television. He says he will be sending Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif to countries remaining in the accord.

Tel Aviv, May 8.– Israel will "eliminate" Syrian President Bashar Assad if he continues to let Iran operate from Syria, Energy Minister Yuval Steinitz said Monday.

Steinitz told Israeli news site ynet that Assad needs to know it will be his end if he allows Iran to turn Syria into military base in order to attack Israel.
