US Senate Democrats Couldn’t Land a Punch on Amy Coney Barrett's nomination

Written by The Perspective on 15 October 2020. Posted in Headlines.

Her Supreme Court nomination has been smooth sailing.

Richard Blumenthal Lied about Amy Coney Barrett’s ‘Radical’ Quote during the hearings.  Blumenthal vs Barrett

Washington DC, Oct.15.– The ratio of progressive outrage over the nomination of federal Judge Amy Coney Barrett to supposed reasons that the U.S. Senate shouldn’t confirm her is completely out of whack — there’s a surfeit of the former and almost none of the latter.

Barrett has received extraordinary testimonials from her colleagues and students, who say she is brilliant, conscientious, and kind. The opposition has countered with a dog’s breakfast of nonsense, including that her confirmation hearing can’t be held in the middle of a pandemic — when the Senate has continued its business since the pandemic began.

The Durham Report and the incoming US Presidential Elections

Written by Gerardo E. Martínez-Solanas on 12 October 2020. Posted in Headlines.

Oct. 12.– Catherine Herridge, a CBS investigative reporter that usually sides with the US Democrats, gave new insights on Oct. 9 into the findings of US Attorney John Durham about the origins of the FBI’s counterintelligence investigation into the Trump campaign in 2016.

She noted that Durham's investigacion now “goes well beyond the origins of FBI Russia probe.” However, Herridge further reports that “Attorney General Barr has made clear that they [the Republicans] should not expect any further indictments or a comprehensive report before Nov. 3”. Why? She believes it would interfere with the election results.

Herridge argues that the revealing report has been delayed because of Director of National Intelligence John Ratcliffe recently declassified very sensible documents outlining information that U.S. intelligence agencies obtained in 2016: “U.S. intelligence agencies obtained insight into Russian intelligence analysis alleging that U.S. Presidential candidate Hillary Clinton had approved a campaign plan to stir up a scandal against U.S. Presidential candidate Donald Trump by tying him to Putin and the Russians’ hacking of the Democratic National Committee” . And the document further stated: “The IC does not know the accuracy of this allegation or the extent to which the Russian intelligence analysis may reflect exaggeration or fabrication”.

Anti-government group plotted to kidnap Michigan governor Gretchen Whitmer

Written by The Globe & Mail (Ontario) on 09 October 2020. Posted in Headlines.

Federal authorities described them as a militia planning & rehearsing for several months on how to start a civil war.

There’s no indication in the criminal complaint that the men were inspired by Mr. Trump.

White Lansing, Oct. 9.– Agents foiled a stunning plot to kidnap Michigan Democratic Governor Gretchen Whitmer, authorities said Thursday in announcing charges in an alleged scheme that involved months of planning and even rehearsals to snatch her from her vacation home.

Six men were charged in federal court with conspiring to kidnap the governor in reaction to what they viewed as her “uncontrolled power,” according to a federal complaint. Separately, seven others were charged in state court under Michigan’s anti-terrorism laws for allegedly targeting police and seeking a “civil war.”

Victory for Bashar al-Assad has meant more suffering for most Syrians

Written by The Economist on 05 October 2020. Posted in Headlines.

People are growing ever more desperate in the areas under his control.

Damascus, Sept. 26.– The price of food in Syria has risen so high that women boil weeds to eat. At bakeries in Damascus, the capital, men clamber over each other to get their hands on what little subsidised bread is available. Across the country, queues for petrol snake for miles. Large parts of some cities are rubble. The currency is worth so little that locals use it as cigarette paper.

This was meant to have been a year of recovery for Bashar al-Assad. After nearly a decade of civil war, Syria’s dictator has all but defeated the rebels who tried to unseat him. He hoped one last push would seal his victory and that foreign powers, seeing no alternative, would re-establish diplomatic ties and begin to pay for reconstruction.

Cada uno desde su punto de vista puede tener razón, pero la razón de cada uno produce la pelea general. Así va el mundo de pelea en pelea, porque cada uno quiere que triunfe «su» razón.
