Netanyahu stated that the agreement between Israel and Lebanon is “historic”

Tel Aviv, Jul. 3.— Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu described last Saturday the agreement signed with Lebanon under US mediation, which establishes the maintenance of an Israeli security zone as long as terrorist threats exist in the region, as "a major blow to Iran and Hezbollah."

In his first public appearance since the signing of the agreement in Washington , the Israeli prime minister stated that the United States and Lebanon recognized his country's right to maintain a security zone. “The Lebanese government showed courage. The United States and Lebanon recognized our right to maintain a security zone as long as a threat exists,” Netanyahu said.

 The agreement stipulates that the Lebanese Armed Forces will take over territory, but Israeli troop withdrawals are strictly contingent on the verified disarmament of non-state armed groups. However, analysts note that the Lebanese military is small, lacks combat experience compared to Hezbollah, and faces severe logistical constraints.

The Israeli prime minister stated that the Iranian regime was seeking to force the withdrawal of its forces from southern Lebanon, but maintained that his government resisted that pressure. “Israel, Lebanon, and the United States are telling Iran: 'This is none of your business. You have no status, involvement, or role here. Neither you, nor Hezbollah, nor any terrorist group,'” Netanyahu asserted.
