In Call to Release All Imprisoned Artists, "Voces Presas” Campaignn (Imprisoned Voices) Highlights 3 Artists Jailed for Their Art and Activism.

 New York/London/Stockholm, Nov.17.– PEN America’s Artists at Risk Connection (ARC) and PEN International, in partnership with Civil Rights Defenders (CRD), today launched a new campaign “Voces Presas” (Imprisoned Voices) to shine a light on the stories of imprisoned Cuban artists: poet María Cristina Garrido and rappers Richard Zamora Brito and Randy Arteaga-Rivera. The campaign calls for the release of all imprisoned artists in Cuba and the respect and guarantee of artistic freedom on the island.

The campaign includes profiles on each artist’s career, with music videos and other excerpts of their art, and documents the harassment and imprisonment they have faced as a result of Cuba’s repression of free and creative expression. The social media campaign calls on the international community to stand in solidarity with Cubans whose freedom of expression is under attack and demand that the Cuban government releases these and all artists imprisoned because of their political views.

Andy Dunier, uno de los jóvenes más carismáticos en prisión desde el #11J, se mantiene sin atención médica y revocado a máxima severidad por mantenerse firme ante la represión

CUBA: REACCIÓN EN EL EUROPARLAMENTO Y ONGs ANTE REPRESIÓN CONTRA ANDY DUNIER GARCÍA LORENZO Y FAMILIAS DEL #11J

Un total de 23 organizaciones defensoras de derechos humanos, entre ellas las pertenecientes a la Coalición por la Libertad de Asociación, han suscrito recientemente un comunicado en el cual brindan "plena solidaridad" a la "red humanitaria de Ayuda a los Valientes del #11J”, la única red formada íntegramente por familiares de presos de conciencia del #11J y cuyo fin es aliviar la situación precaria que viven todos estos presos de conciencia y sus familias en Cuba, y al joven que inspiró esta red solidaria, el preso de conciencia Andy Dunier García Lorenzo, que sufre una fuerte represión en prisión.

Al apoyo de este joven y dicha red se han sumado, además, también europarlamentarios de diferentes sensibilidades y grupos políticos. Los europarlamentarios que han dado su apoyo a Andy Dunier García Lorenzo y la red de solidaridad interfamiliar Ayuda a los Valientes del #11J son: Dita Charanzová (Vicepresidenta del Parlamento Europeo, Renew Europe), Nicolae Ștefănuță (Vicepresidente de D-US en el Parlamento Europeo, Renew Europe), Soraya Rodríguez (Presidenta de DPAP y miembro de DLAT en el Parlamento Europeo, Renew Europe), Javier Nart (Vicepresidente de DCAM en el Parlamento Europeo, Renew Europe), Leopoldo López Gil (Vicepresidente de D-CL y miembro de AFET, DROI y DLAT en el Parlamento Europeo, Partido Popular Europeo) y José Ramón Bauzá (Miembro del Parlamento Europeo, Renew Europe).

Muchas de las familias beneficiadas por la red de Ayuda a los Valientes del #11J" están formadas por menores que están sufriendo la pérdida de uno o dos de sus progenitores y, además, la expulsión de su trabajo de otros de sus miembros por parte del gobierno de Cuba con el propósito de que el castigo inhumano sobre estas familias sea aún mayor del que ya es tener en prisión, de forma completamente arbitraria y ajena a cualquier legalidad internacional, a uno de sus miembros en condiciones de tortura y un completo desamparo legal. En otros casos las familias sufren la prisión de algunos de sus miembros más jóvenes, como es el caso de Andy Dunier y su familia.

HORRIFIC PERSECUTION OF FALUN DAFA PRACTITIONERS IN CHINA

Falun Dafa (or Great Law) –also known as Falun Gong– is an ancient Buddhist meditation system made public by Master Li Hongzhi. It is based on the characteristics of the universe - truthfulness, compassion and forbearance. It cultivates both mind and body. The main focus of cultivation is on developing virtue by perfecting the quality of one's character, thus lifting the constraints to reaching tranquility and accelerating spiritual progress.

Falun Dafa practitioners do not strike back when hit, nor do they talk back when insulted. But we must speak out to raise awareness about the current persecution that Falun Dafa is subject to in its country of origin - China.
