Geneva, Feb. 3 (DPnet). The Geneva Summit of Human Rights and Democracy will convene on Tuesday, February 18th, at Geneva's international conference center next to the United Nations Human Rights Council. Dissidents and human rights activists from across the globe will participate. This event, organized by a coalition of over 25 human rights organizations, will amplify the voices of those impacted by the world's gravest human rights abuses.
The Geneva Summit for Human Rights and Democracy is a major conference that shines a spotlight on urgent human rights situations requiring global attention. It provides human rights heroes, activists, and former political prisoners with a unique platform to testify about their personal struggles for democracy and freedom, while building an international community to take on dictatorships.
The Summit is held around the main annual session of the United Nations Human Rights Council, when foreign ministers gather in Geneva, to place critical issues onto the international agenda. Exiled Cuban organizations such as the Center for a Free Cuba and the Directorio Democrático Cubano will also be active participants.
With renowned speakers and former political prisoners from countries like Russia, Cuba, Iran, and Hong Kong, the summit will shine a spotlight on critical abuses, confront authoritarian regimes, and mobilize global action. Through compelling testimonies and urgent discussions, the event will place human rights at the forefront of the international agenda and turn the tables on tyrants around the world. Reza Pahlavi from Iran, Garry Kasparov from Russia, Nguyen Van Trang from VietNam, Osiris Puerto Terry from Cuba, and Times Wang de China are among the most prominent speakers.
