Tunis, July 26 (DP.net).– The dismissed head of government, Hichem Mechichi, announced in a press release his position with regard to the exceptional measures taken on July 25, 2021, by the President of the Republic.
Mechichi assured that he took office in one of the most difficult times in the country, in a situation of economic and social crisis.
He explained that this situation pushed him and his government team to take unpopular measures, in order to preserve the lives of Tunisians, while trying to preserve their jobs. Mechichi assured that by accepting the mission, he would find himself in this delicate situation.
Mechichi affirmed that he sides with the Tunisian people and their choices, and that he withdraws from any position of responsibility, assuring that he will ensure the handover of powers with the person who will be appointed by the president of the Republic, in accordance with the customs and traditions of the administration. He wished success to his successor, assuring that he was ready to continue to serve his country from all positions.
