Ago. 11.– Dos informes publicados por el Observatorio Cubano de Auditoría Ciudadana (OCAC) sobre la inseguridad pública en Cuba revelan un alarmante incremento en la criminalidad en la isla. Pese a no existir informes previos, puede afirmarse que el 2023 fue el año en que la criminalidad comenzó a ser reconocida como un problema en Cuba.
Entre los principales hallazgos, en el año 2023 los meses de julio y junio fueron los más violentos del año, con un notable aumento en crímenes que van desde robos hasta asesinatos. De los 649 crímenes reportados, 265 fueron robos, 199 personas fueron asesinadas en 197 incidentes, y 124 personas sufrieron asaltos.

Since the coup in 2022 and since the most recent one perpetrated in 2024, freedom of expression was curtailed with foreign journalists expelled and media suspended by authorities in the context of the recent post-coup transitional regime and the armed conflict. Armed groups and government forces committed unlawful attacks. Several public figures were victims of enforced disappearances and women and girls were victims of abduction. Armed groups severely restricted the economic and social rights of civilians in towns and villages under siege, mostly in the northern and eastern regions.
Nevertheless, many have lost everything — their homes, their possessions and sometimes even their loved ones — because they chose to follow Christ. Among them is Domiana, a woman who faced persecution in Egypt. Today, we share her story and invite you to consider standing with persecuted Christians like her. This is just one example of many similar cases.
