Número de detenciones arbitrarias en Cuba por mes en 2016:

Enero: 962 hombres y 512 mujeres; 
Febrero: 672 hombres y 504 mujeres;
Marzo: 682 hombres y 563 mujeres; 
Abril: 519 hombres y 609 mujeres.

En los primeros cuatro meses de 2016 las detenciones arbitrarias en Cuba sumaron 2835 hombres y 1688 mujeres, la mayoría de las cuales sucedieron en las provincias de La Habana y de Santiago de Cuba, y su número fue bastante elevado también en las provincias de Villa Clara, Camaguey, Las Tunas y Holguín [Fuente: Observatorio Cubano de Derechos Humanos (OCDH)].

• Over the last several weeks, the Government of Sudan has made an effort to obstruct the engagement of civil society activists in a United Nations (UN)-led human rights review of the country. In the statement that follows, 37 Sudanese and international organizations deemed this practice unacceptable and argued that it shows the government's contempt not just for human rights defenders in Sudan, but for human rights standards and the UN Human Rights Council. 
• Four representatives of Sudanese civil society were intercepted by security officials at Khartoum International Airport on their way to a high level human rights meeting with diplomats which was to take place in Geneva on March 31.  The meeting was organized by the international NGO, UPR Info, in preparation for the Universal Periodic Review (UPR) of Sudan that will be held in May.

The efforts of the Government of Sudan to obstruct the engagement of civil society activists in a United Nations (UN)-led human rights review of the country is unacceptable and shows blatant contempt not just for human rights defenders in Sudan, but to human rights standards and the UN Human Rights Council, 37 Sudanese and international groups and eight prominent Sudanese individuals said today.

Four representatives of Sudanese civil society were intercepted by security officials at Khartoum International Airport on their way to a high level human rights meeting with diplomats which took place in Geneva today, 31 March. 

En la mañana de hoy miércoles 13 de abril, ocurrió lo siguiente:

Antes de las 07:00 llegaron a la vivienda de Alfredo Pérez en la Finca La Isleña, en el municipio de San Juan y Martínez, Pinar del Río, los oficiales del Ministerio del Interior (MININT), que dijeron llamarse Mayor Víctor y Capitán Félix en un auto Lada blanco con rótulo de Inmigración y no. 450.

Desde allí condujeron hasta la estación Pinar 1, de Inmigracion, en la ciudad provincial, al Sr. Bruno Vaccotti de la Fundación Paraguaya, quien hacía una visita de amistad y turismo a algunos miembros del Centro de Estudios y la revista Convivencia.

Luego de una hora de interrogatorio sobre su viaje a Cuba y su procedencia, le dijeron que podía continuar su estancia haciendo turismo pero que "no se podía ver con esa gente", refiriéndose a Convivencia, porque "su visa no permitia realizar labores subversivas". Y que no podía haber pernoctado en la casa de vivienda de Alfredo Pérez a pesar de que aceptaron que no había propósito de lucro en la familia anfitriona que siempre aclaró ser hermanos en la fe católica del Sr. Vaccotti, quien a su vez dejó bien claro que no vino a Cuba a ninguna acción subversiva, ni nada parecido, sino a visitar a sus amigos de Convivencia.

March 12.─ When Hind Al-Otaibi went to the Riyadh Personal Status Court to have her father struck out as her wali, or guardian, the judges seemed sympathetic. Her father had raped and bruised her, Ms Otaibi, who was a teenager at the time, told the court.

He refused to let her travel abroad, even to her mother’s funeral, and when she escaped from home had persuaded social services to send her back. After consideration, the judges determined last year that her father, an imam from the Saudi interior of Nejd, remained her legal guardian; but that a guardian only had powers to approve his ward’s marriage. If upheld on appeal, the ruling could topple the legal edifice of male control, depriving walis of their power over whether their women can study, work, travel or open bank accounts. “Emancipation from slavery,” says Ms Otaibi.
