Re: Naturpaz Audacity and the Issue of Solidarity

Fraternalmente, Juan Jose Lopez Diaz

Naturpaz Audacity and the Issue of Solidarity

A note to Dan, an ecologist in California:
The issue affecting Cuban pro-democracy organizations by fostering division, whether on the left or the right, remains consistent.

Labels and stereotypes are keeping the Cuban people trapped in what it seems an eternal purgatory. For example, in the case of Naturpaz: It seems that a romantic image of Fidel Castro and his revolution is keeping the "greens" frozen and their morality bankrupt to offer a real support to the first environmental independent Eco-pacificist organization born in Cuba. In addition, the right outright dismiss us sometimes because does not matter how anti-communist or how much liberty and democracy we have promoted for the past 40 years the mantra is that the "environmentalists" are lefties.

It seems that a right of free speech is more value in others, but no when it matters for the love of the trees, the ocean, the rivers, and an ecology transition that is framed on the values of what makes America Great.

It seems that liberty which is so defended for others fell short for us.

I wonder why a group of young people reunited a morning on February 9th, 1986, still dare to dream today after youth lose its wings?

I wonder why anyone can see poetry in the Cuba of Fidel Castro Ruz who never wrote a poem in his life, but instead wrote to Nikita Khrushchev to initiate a nuclear attack on America, an attack that would end earth as a planet for the left, the right, and the middle?

I wonder how it makes any sense that the Green Party USA keeps inviting officials from that Fidel Castro Ruz government, and its officials' representatives in the Cuba Embassy in Washington D.C to their Conferences of "solidarity" with the Cuban People?

I WONDER WHY never arrives a real solidarity for eco-pacificists and farmers such as Juan Alberto De La Nuez Ramírez, Yoani Rodriguez Montero, Juan Carlos Hernandez, Irel Gomez Moreira, Michael Valladares Cala, Yoelexi Acosta, Ernesto A. Zaldivar, Emiliano Salustiano Gomez, Fernando Ginarte Mora, all of them Presidents of the Community Councils of Naturpaz in Cuba. All of them are agroecologists.  All of them are under constant pressure, harassment, intimidation, attacks, assaults, arrests, and more for trying to do ecological workshops "Planting Life and Freedom."

Instead, the "greens" here believe in the Cuban Government with their Pastors for Peace, Antonio Nunez Jimenez Foundation, and all other fake institutions and deceptions.

Naturpaz has been waiting for 40 years.

Hope never dies when love leads the charge. Someone once spoke about the audacity of hope. Naturpaz audacity is that somehow, we are still standing and writing for solidarity for those whom today in the darkness are lighting their houses with hope.
