Reply: We want a democratic relaunch of the EU through a constitutional Convention

Exactly two months ago the British people voted for a Brexit. This put Europe into its deepest crisis since World War 2. But we will not let it tear up the Union. We want a democratic relaunch of the EU through a constitutional Convention.

We will be taking these demands to the national heads of state and the leaders of the EU (the European Council) on 16 September. They will be meeting in Bratislava (Slovakia) to discuss the future of the European Union following Brexit. We will tell them that such fundamental discussions that affect us all should not take place behind closed doors, but should include us, the citizens.

We are arranging a meeting with a high-level representative of the European Council to deliver our petition (see petition here: www.democracy-international.org/standupnow ). And we will release thousands of balloons into the air on 15 September, carrying all our signatures and messages: this will be sure to astonish the leaders and the press! And this way we can be sure that our voices will not be ignored.
