The new Commander-in-Chief, 58-year-old Oleksandr Stanislavovych Syrskyi is a Moscow Military Academy graduate who has commanded Ukraine’s Ground Forces since 2019.
Kyiv, Feb. 10.– In a much anticipated and highly significant decision, Ukraine’s President, Volodymyr Zelensky, has sacked the popular Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces right ahead of the second anniversary of Russia’s all-out attack on the embattled pro-Western nation.
On Thursday, Zelensky announced he had replaced General Valery Zaluzhny (photo: right) with Col. General Oleksandr Syrskyi (photo: left).

Feb. 3.– A finales de 2010, agentes de la Administración de Control de Drogas (DEA, por sus siglas en inglés) prepararon una operación en McAllen, Texas, una bulliciosa ciudad de tamaño mediano situada frente a Reynosa, México. Un agente encubierto, que se hacía pasar por un miembro de una organización de narcotráfico de Nueva York, había invitado al objetivo de la operación a encontrarse con él en un estacionamiento comercial de la ciudad para cerrar un negocio de drogas que ambos habían estado discutiendo durante algunos meses.
El objetivo era Mauricio Soto Caballero, un consultor radicado en Ciudad de México con algunas conexiones turbias, que estaba buscando un punto de entrada al mundo del tráfico de cocaína. Pero para la DEA, Soto representaba algo mucho más grande: la oportunidad de resolver un caso que investigadores creían que penetraba no solo a las altas esferas del narcotráfico, sino también a las altas esferas de la política mexicana.
Durante sus conversaciones, Soto había accedido a tomar posesión de un vehículo con 10 kilogramos de cocaína. Cruzó la frontera y llegó a la reunión en un automóvil junto con dos socios. El agente encubierto subió al auto de Soto y le dio las llaves del vehículo que alojaba la cocaína. A cambio del favor, el agente encubierto prometió darle a Soto como recompensa un kilogramo de cocaína.

Tel Aviv, Feb.7 (DP.net).– A three-stage ceasefire plan, spanning 135 days and divided into three 45-day phases, has been suggested by Hamas as a means of ending the war.
• During the first phase, 1,500 Palestinian inmates held in Israeli jails must be released in exchange for the release of all women hostages, males under the age of 19, the elderly, and the sick. The second step would see the release of the remaining male captives, and the third phase would involve the exchange of the hostages' bodies and remains.
• According to a political source who is aware of the specifics of the cease-fire that Hamas has suggested, the group is asking for modifications to the rules governing Jewish visitors to the Temple Mount/Aqsa Mosque complex as well as other requirements pertaining to the evacuation of Israeli Defense Forces from parts of Gaza.
