For those who have read my piece on Sirley Avila posted earlier on this forum, know that because of constant government harassment, she came back to Miami after returning home to Las Tunas after her rehabilitation . But she is not giving up her fight to seek justice from the Cuban government, even in the face of threats now to her only son still living in Cuba. She believes that she can prove with documents and testimony that the Cuban government had a role in the attack against her, an attack which cost her a hand and left her with other permanent injuries. While I wish her well, she is playing a very risky game. As a mother myself who lost her oldest son and a Cuban Marielito foster son, I know that once your child is gone, there is no compensation. But Sirley believes she owes it to the Cuban people to continue the good fight.
