There is no doubt that the current Israel vs Hamas-Hezbollah-Iran war is tragically regrettable. It would have ended long ago if Israel's sworn enemies had released the hostages (including women, children, and the elderly) and the Palestinians had negotiated peace based on mutual recognition, that is, recognition of Israel's existence in exchange for recognition of the State of Palestine. Mr. Beecy's note overlooks the fact that it was the Hamas terrorist organization in control of Gaza that started the conflict, murdering more than a thousand defenseless civilians in cold blood.
Although we find Israel's strategy of aerial bombardment, which undoubtedly causes numerous civilian casualties, excessive and cruel, instead of a ground operation aimed at eliminating terrorist hotbeds with greater control of possible collateral damage to civilians, let us not forget that the causes of this overwhelming military response by Israel have been reaped by its enemies after so many times they have attacked Israel since its founding in 1948. Its enemies have always been those who have unleashed these wars with the purpose of wiping the Jews off the map.
In their protracted fight, the Jewish people have been led to believe that this is an all-out battle for survival.
