The Durham Report and the incoming US Presidential Elections

Oct. 12.– Catherine Herridge, a CBS investigative reporter that usually sides with the US Democrats, gave new insights on Oct. 9 into the findings of US Attorney John Durham about the origins of the FBI’s counterintelligence investigation into the Trump campaign in 2016.

She noted that Durham's investigacion now “goes well beyond the origins of FBI Russia probe.” However, Herridge further reports that “Attorney General Barr has made clear that they [the Republicans] should not expect any further indictments or a comprehensive report before Nov. 3”. Why? She believes it would interfere with the election results.

Herridge argues that the revealing report has been delayed because of Director of National Intelligence John Ratcliffe recently declassified very sensible documents outlining information that U.S. intelligence agencies obtained in 2016: “U.S. intelligence agencies obtained insight into Russian intelligence analysis alleging that U.S. Presidential candidate Hillary Clinton had approved a campaign plan to stir up a scandal against U.S. Presidential candidate Donald Trump by tying him to Putin and the Russians’ hacking of the Democratic National Committee” . And the document further stated: “The IC does not know the accuracy of this allegation or the extent to which the Russian intelligence analysis may reflect exaggeration or fabrication”.

The facts that are being revealed are remarkably serious because “on September 7. 2016, US intelligence officials forwarded an investigative referral to FBI Director James Comey and Deputy Assistant Director of Counterintelligence Peter Strzok regarding ‘U.S. Presidential candidate Hillary Clinton’s approval of a plan concerning U.S. Presidential candidate Donald Trump and Russian hackers hampering U.S. elections as a means of distracting the public from her use of a private mail server.'”

According to Herridge's investigative report, Ratcliffe later released additional declassified information indicating that former CIA Director John Brennan briefed then-President Barack Obama on the intelligence that U.S. officials had obtained. “To be clear, this is not Russian disinformation and has not been assessed as such by the Intelligence Community,” Ratcliffe said. “I’ll be briefing Congress on the sensitive sources and methods by which it was obtained in the coming days.”

Rumors circulate, corroborated by Herridge, that Durham is delaying to reveal the results of his investigation in order not to appear to be trying to "influence the election". However, "influencing the election" is exactly what the report ought to do. Citizens demand to have the whole truth in order to make duly informed decisions at the polls.
