A Flag, a Family, a Legacy
During the powerful March 13 storm to Bowling Green, Ohio, strong winds carried my flagpole and flag into de crabapple tree in front of my house. I recovered de pole, but the flag remained tangled and torn by the storm.
After unsuccessful attempts to properly dispose of it, I brought the flag home and decided instead to share a piece of it to share a piece of it with each of my children and grandchildren on the Fourth of July. The flag endured the storm, just a each of us is called at times to endure the storms of life with strength, faith, and perseverance.
To my children and grandchildren:
Never forget how blessed you are to live in America, a nation founded on the ideals of freedom, personal responsibility, and the God-given rights of every individual. Out flag is more than a piece of cloth—it represents the courage, sacrifice, and determination of generations who worked to preserve the liberties we enjoy today. When you see the stars and stripes waving, remember the men and women who served, sacrificed, and stood united to protect this country and its values.
Above all, keep your faith to God at the center of your lives, seek His wisdom in your decisions, and trust His guidance through both good times and challenges. Be grateful for your blesings, treat others with kindness and respect, and work to leave this nation stronger for future generations.
As you look toward the future, remember that freedom iss a gift, faith is an anchor, and family is a treasure. Hold fast to your values, be grateful for your blessings, and never losse sight of the principles that have helped make our family, our flag, and our nation strong.
May God bless each of you, and may God continue to bless America as we celebrate 250 years of liberty and hope.
