Andrés Hernández, elegido Presidente del Partido Demócrata Cristiano de Cuba

Andrés Hernández ha sido elegido nuevo presidente del Partido Demócrata Cristiano de Cuba, en el marco del XV Congreso del partido que se celebró el pasado sábado 2 de junio en Miami. Hernández estará acompañado de los vicepresidentes Yaxys Cires, Helio González y René Hernández.

Andrés Hernández es doctor en Historia Moderna por St. John’s University en New York. Ya había sido Presidente del PDC entre 2008 y 2010, y actualmente es vicepresidente de la Internacional Demócrata de Centro (IDC).

Fundado en 1991 en Miami, el PDC es una agrupación inspirada en el humanismo cristiano, que propone para Cuba, entre otros postulados, el establecimiento de un Estado de Derecho fundado en el pleno respeto a las libertades públicas y los derechos humanos y la construcción de una sociedad próspera y justa basada en la implementación de una Economía Social de Mercado.

El PDC está afiliado a la Internacional Demócrata de Centro, así como a la Organización Demócrata Cristiana de América, y participa activamente en las iniciativas Consenso Cubano, Mesa de Unidad Democrática (MUAD) y Encuentro Nacional Cubano.

Andrés Hernández has been elected the new president of the Christian Democratic Party of Cuba (PDC, for its initials in Spanish), within the framework of the XV Congress of the party that was held last Saturday, June 2 in Miami. Hernandez will be joined by vice presidents Yaxys Cires, Helio González and René Hernández.

Andres Hernández hold a doctorate in Modern History from St. John’s University in New York. He had previously served as PDC President for the 2008-10 period and is currently Vice-President of the Centrist Democratic International (IDC).

The PDC, founded in Miami in 1991, is an organization that draws its inspiration from Christian humanism. The PDC promotes for Cuba the establishment of a political system based on the Rule of Law that will fully respect all democratic freedoms and human rights. It also advocates for the creation of a just and prosperous society in Cuba built on the basis of Social Market Economy principles.

The PDC is affiliated to the Centrist Democratic International (IDC) and to the Christian Democratic Organization of the America’s (ODCA). It also plays an active role in initiatives such as Consenso Cubano, Mesa de Unidad Democrática and Encuentro Nacional Cubano where other Cuban democratic organizations that adhere to different political philosophies participate.
