An impending danger to the US democratic system

The Twitter Files are a set of internal Twitter, Inc. documents made public as of December 2022, disclosed by Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Elon Musk to journalists Matt Taibbi, Bari Weiss, Lee Fang and to authors Michael Shellenberger, David Zweig, and Alex Berenson shortly after Musk's acquisition of Twitter on October 27, 2022.

National security agencies and high-echelon bureaucrats have become biased in promoting a political ideology and mechanisms to control the population that puts them practically at the helm of the United States government from behind the scenes. Despite the fact that these agencies and bureaucrats' political and ideological activities are now coming to light, they nevertheless seem to enjoy the immunity that comes with their unbridled control over the justice system, the press, and social media.

It is now known that Jim Baker, who previously held a high position as the FBI's Legal Counsel, and a large number of other former FBI agents had attained positions of authority within Twitter. It is also well known that this and other national security agencies and organizations exerted strong and constant pressure on Twitter and other social media platforms to censor content and even shut down the accounts of those who dared to voice opinions or attempted to disseminate information that was not in favor of the political and ideological interests they supported.

CensorshipThey went to the extreme of conspiring against the acting President, to whom they owed allegiance according to the country's Constitution, promoting investigations without cause and leaking false information that the media spread without revealing the sources, taking refuge in an ethical "privacy rule".

The files reveal that Twitter was in communication with a list of government groups and made decisions based on the influence and pressure of former employees of organizations or agencies that were now part of their payroll or followed orders directly from the government. "[Some] Twitter files focused on internal discussions of Trump's ban and also revealed repeated FBI meetings with Twitter security executives," NewsNation journalist Dan Abrams revealed.

Elon Musk has fired them all and has exposed many of these hoaxes, but the damage is done and neither the Department of Justice nor the Attorney General are taking action to punish the culprits.

Musk summed up the "culture" within Twitter, tweeting: "Under pressure from hundreds of activist employees, Twitter disqualified and terminated the account of Donald Trump, a sitting US President, despite their own admission that he did not violate the rules." Hidding the truth

In the outreach process, Musk coordinated with Matt Taibbi and Bari Weiss to publish a series of stories based on internal Twitter documents related to a number of major political events dating back to 2016: the Hunter Biden laptop scandal, Twitter's secret ban and censorship policy, President Trump's suspension from Twitter, Twitter's submission to FBI machinations to allegedly "suppress election misinformation" ahead of the 2020 election, pressure exerted on Twitter to publicize a "secret" Pentagon psychology campaign abroad, full censorship of any attempt to correct or refute in a free debate the official Covid narrative, deep complicity in the Russiagate hoax, and Twitter's gradual capitulation to the direct involvement of the US intelligence community, with the FBI as an intermediary, in control of content.

Taibbi revealed that Twitter files "show the FBI acting as a gatekeeper for a vast program of social media surveillance and censorship, spanning agencies across the federal government, from the State Department and the Justice Department to the Pentagon and the CIA."

All this is extremely serious because it represents a first step toward a dictatorship. It is the responsibility of the United States Congress to dot the i’s and cross the t’s and initiate a process to remove the officials responsible for these events. As Jacques Maritain rightly pointed out more than half a century ago: "Democracy has to educate the people for freedom and to defend themselves against those who would use democratic means to destroy freedom and human rights."
