The truth behind the Covid-19 and its economic consequences

The world is recently finding that there were cases of Covid-19 in China at least since November 2019 or perhaps even earlier. However, no case was officially reported in China until December 8, and it was not until December 31 that the Wuhan Municipal Health Covid-19 under the microscopeCommission reported a cluster of cases of "pneumonia" in that city of Hubei Province.

Next day, on the 1st of January, the World Health Organization (WHO) set up an Incident Management Support Team for dealing with the outbreak and reported four days later that there was a cluster of pneumonia cases –with no deaths– in Wuhan. Along the following days, WHO issued advice on how to detect, test and manage such potential cases of pneumonia, relying on Chinese official sources and following their advice.

WHO's Director General, Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, called several press conferences during the following weeks insisting that there was no pandemic and asserting that the outbreak was under control with proper prophylactic measures. In the meantime, he traveled to Beijing on January 28 to meet China’s leadership and to offer technical and scientific assistance.

On January 30, WHO reported that human-to-human transmission was limited, according to Chinese sources. However, a WHO's situation report reported on the same day 7818 total confirmed cases worldwide, with the majority of these in China, and 82 cases reported in 18 countries outside China.

Next month, between February 16 and 24, a WHO-China Joint mission, which included experts from Canada, Germany, Japan, Nigeria, Republic of Korea, Russia, Singapore and the US (CDC, NIH) spent time in Beijing and also travelled to Wuhan and two other cities. Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus

However, Dr. Tedros waited until March 11 to identify the Covid-19 outbreak as a pandemic during a televised press conference, and updated their Strategic Preparedness and Response Plan recommending a total shutdown of world economies to contain the pandemic: «measures that restrict the movement of people may prove temporarily useful at the beginning of an outbreak to allow time to implement preparedness activities, and to limit the international spread of potentially highly infectious cases.» And added: «including strengthening readiness to rapidly identify, diagnose and treat cases; identification and follow-up of contacts when feasible (with priority given to high-risk settings such as healthcare facilities); infection prevention and control in healthcare settings; implementation of health measures for travelers …», etc.

But, who is actually Dr. Tedros and why is he the head of WHO? He is not a medical doctor nor an epidemiologist, both disciplines that have historically been a requirement for the Director-General of WHO. However, it is fair to say that he is a Doctor of Philosophy in community health from the University of Nottingham for research investigating the effects of dams on the transmission of malaria in the Tigray region of Ethiopia. And he was Minister of Health of the Democratic Republic of Ethiopia (2005-2012) and was appointed Foreign Minister in 2012, a position he held until elected to lead WHO.

Although Ethiopia is a country where multi-party elections have been held since 1995, the heritage of the previous communist regime is reflected in the authoritarian governments of subsequent years and the electoral irregularities that usually favor the ruling party. Even the Carter Center and the European Union, counting with observers in the 2005 elections, expressed their dissatisfaction and serious irregularities in ballot counting and results publishing. In fact, some of the leaders of the major opposition party who refused to take up their parliamentary seats were accused of inciting the post-election violence and were imprisoned. Amnesty International considered them prisoners of conscience. In addition, during the electoral campaign for the legislative elections of 2010, the party in power since 1991, published a 65-page radical manifesto on 10 October 2009. Although the opposition was well ahead in the counting of votes in 2010 elections, the governing Ethiopian People's Revolutionary Democratic Front (EPRDF) halted the counting for several days. After it ensued, it claimed the election, amidst charges of fraud and intimidation. That was the neo communist party having Dr. Tedros as Minister of Health and most recently as Foreign Minister.

Furthermore, Dr. Tedros was a prominent member of the Marxist-leninist Tigray People's Liberation Front (TPLF) that placed the Communist dictator Mengistu Haile Marian in power. Later on, after the demise of the Soviet empire by 1990 the TPLF internationally avoided references to Marxism-Leninism and eventually joined the EPRDF in 1991. It is also important to recall that during Dr. Tedros tenure as Ethiopia’s Minister of Health, he didn’t officially record any outbreaks of cholera in 2006, 2009, and 2011. Instead, they were recorded as cases of “acute watery diarrhea” (in fact a symptom of cholera), according to the New York Times. This gentleman and his government simply followed the common practice of communist regimes to cover up their failings and weaknesses.

Given this ominous reality, why was he elected WHO’s Director General?

China has gradually and very successfully penetrated the African continent, not only as its most important trading partner but also by applying that growing influence to the political arena. This man came to be the head of WHO in 2017, supported by China and thanks to the members of the African Union voting in block in his favor, most of whose countries are either violent dictatorships or curtail rights and freedoms at the whim of their corrupt rulers who, in addition, condemn their peoples to live in endemic and structural corruption. In addition, this gentleman was placed at the helm of WHO by the strong and effective Chinese communist regime lobby, moving underground in every one of these countries, whose support was absolutely explicit.

If we still had any doubts about who Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus really is, it would be appropriate to remember that the first thing this gentleman did when he took the helm of WHO was to appoint Robert Mugabe, one of the most cruel, bloodthirsty and corrupt African dictators, as WHO Goodwill Ambassador to the world, in spite of the fact that he was already well known as a dangerous character who in addition to promoting tribal ethnic cleansing and practicing torture and crime, was an unconditional man of China and an effective introducer of Beijing's voracity for African raw materials.

How could Dr. Tedros be considered a trustworthy character for the world to follow his advice and directives? Or is he rather someone dedicated to promoting a new world order in China’s image and semblance? It is timely to wonder what is the origin of the recommendations driving the whole world to a shutdown of practically all economic activities, while China kept producing and selling their products, especially the many that have become essential to fight and control a pandemic originated precisely in that country, and the many more that the world is in desperate need to get from them because the world industry has been paralyzed. Would it be illogical to suspect that this is a masterful hegemonic strategy?

Although we can accept and recognize the need to take radical measures in the face of an epidemic outbreak, even to the point of temporarily closing the economy to give time to put health care activity and prophylaxis under control, such emergency situation is only justified for a very short time. There is no point in hoping to stop the pandemic by closing the economy month after month, because it is impossible to reduce the number of cases to zero by means of forced seclusion and inactivity of the population. Even if these measures resulted on an astounding reduction of cases, it would be enough if two or three people remained infected in any country for the contagion to spread again. In other words, it is impossible to stop the pandemic suspending economic activities. It is only possible to control it, slowing its spread with proper health measures until a new medicine or vaccine is able to cure or prevent it.

Following WHO and China’s advice, the fact is that the prolonged shutdown of the economy, supposedly to stop the pandemic, has only served to ruin virtually all countries, even the wealthiest, with the notable exception of China, the place where the present tragedy originated.
